Going freelance has been a career choice, not a decision born out of necessity. I have always enjoyed working with other creatives as part of a team, but I'm also happy working independently. My key strength has been in producing finished ideas from rough scamps or descriptive briefs, through to final print-ready artwork (or website).
Before going self-employed, I was employed for 10 years as Senior Artworker and Web developer for a design agency in the Cotswolds, and I've been in the same industry for about 15 years.
The Adobe Creative Suite has been my staple software diet, but I've also done plenty of work in Powerpoint, Word and Excel when it's been required (although usually this is not something I'd recommend). I'm also happy working in Quark when necessary.
